FAQ
Answers about booking, pricing and what to expect on the trail.
Booking & payment
How do I book a trip?
Send a booking request with your trip, dates and group size. You get a reference number right away, and our team contacts you on WhatsApp, usually within 24 hours, to confirm availability and your final quote.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A down payment of at least 30% of the total cost secures your slot. It is due after confirmation, or 2 weeks before the trip at the latest. Full payment is made on the first day.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel between 5 days and 1 day before the trip (H-5 to H-1), the down payment is non-refundable.
What if a place is closed or the weather is bad?
Closures, bad weather and other conditions beyond our control do not entitle participants to compensation. Ijen blue fire depends on weather, safety and official access.
Pricing
How is the price calculated?
Rates are per person for a private group of 2 to 4 people (up to 5 or 6 on the Yogyakarta tours), and the price per person drops as the group grows. For more than 4 people or other hotels, send us a request for a special price.
Is there a peak-season surcharge?
Yes. Eid Al-Fitr and New Year, from 7 days before to 7 days after, add 20% to the rate.
What is included in the price?
Private car with driver, fuel, toll and parking, an English-speaking guide, entrance fees, accommodation with breakfast, the Bromo jeep, Ijen equipment and mineral water.
What is not included?
Lunch and dinner, tips for the driver and guide, travel insurance, the Ijen trolley, horse rides at Bromo and personal expenses.
Before the trip
What should I bring?
Good walking or trekking shoes, warm clothes, a beanie, a raincoat, a small backpack, a copy of your ID, water and snacks. Peaks can be 5–15°C, colder with wind.
How fit do I need to be for Ijen?
The ascent is about 3 km and takes 1.5–2 hours. The optional blue fire descent is about 800 m on steep, slippery ground. If it is not for you, wait on the upper trail and go to the sunrise viewpoint.
Is travel insurance included?
No. Insurance for the trip is your own responsibility, so please arrange it before you travel.
Do I get equipment for Ijen?
Yes. A gas mask, a headlamp and the health certificate for Ijen are included. If you have your own standard gear, we recommend bringing it.
On the trip
Where will you pick me up in Bali?
From your hotel at 09:00. Driving time to Gilimanuk Harbour is about 4–5 hours from Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Legian and Denpasar, 2 hours from Lovina and 30 minutes from Pemuteran.
Where does each trip end?
It depends on the route: Surabaya, Bali or Banyuwangi, as shown on each trip page. Sukamade trips end in Banyuwangi, so plan your onward travel.
Will I see the blue fire?
It depends on weather, safety conditions and official access to the crater, so we cannot guarantee it.
Will I see sea turtles at Sukamade?
Sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Baby turtle releases also depend on hatchling availability, conservation schedules, weather and local rules.
Do you run tours in Yogyakarta?
Yes. We offer two full-day private tours: Borobudur & Prambanan (hotel pick-up at 05:00) and Jomblang & Pindul Cave (hotel pick-up at 07:00). We collect you from your hotel in Yogyakarta city.
Are tickets included on the Yogyakarta tours?
Both tours offer a ticket-inclusive package and a no-ticket option depending on your preference. Contact our team on WhatsApp for details on each option.
