Ijen Crater Blue Fire & Sunrise Adventure
Your adventure begins with an early-morning pick-up by our Ijen tour team from your preferred location in Banyuwangi, including your hotel, homestay, bus terminal, train station, or ferry port. From there, we will travel to Paltuding Post, the main starting point for the Mount Ijen hike, which is approximately one hour away from Banyuwangi City.
Once we arrive at Paltuding, you will have time to enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea while preparing for the hike. Before setting off, our local guide will provide a safety briefing and explain the route, trail conditions, and important guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable trekking experience.
At approximately 02:00 AM, we will begin the ascent toward the Ijen Crater summit. The hiking trail covers around 3.4 km one way and generally takes 1.5–2 hours, depending on your walking pace and physical condition. Along the route, you will pass several checkpoints, with small local stalls available at various points where you can pause briefly and catch your breath.
After reaching the upper crater area, we will continue toward the Blue Fire viewing area. This section involves a steep descent over rocky and potentially slippery terrain, taking approximately 30 minutes or longer depending on trail conditions. With the guidance of our experienced local guide, you will have the opportunity to witness the extraordinary blue flames produced by the combustion of sulfuric gases, a rare natural spectacle that makes Ijen one of Indonesia's most remarkable destinations. Access to the crater floor depends on official regulations, weather, volcanic activity, and safety conditions.
Once you have enjoyed this unique natural phenomenon, we will make our way back toward the crater rim and proceed to a suitable sunrise viewpoint. As the first light of day appears, take in the breathtaking scenery of Ijen's striking turquoise crater lake, surrounded by dramatic volcanic landscapes. This is also the perfect opportunity to capture memorable photographs of one of East Java's most iconic natural wonders.
After spending time enjoying the panoramic views and morning atmosphere, we will descend along the same hiking trail to Paltuding Post, usually arriving around 06:00–07:00 AM, depending on the pace of the group and trail conditions. You can take a short break before our team transfers you back to your accommodation or the agreed drop-off point in Banyuwangi.
